Controlling swelling in the knee from Rheumatoid Arthritis

Hi, I’m 22 years old, suffering from RA since early childhood. I have relativly long remission periods. I have flares about each 1-1.5 years, and the flares accure mostly on my knees. Currently taking MTX 12.5 mg weekly, 200mg Plaquenil and 250 mg Naxin daily. 2 months ago I had a flare began on my left knee, and only two days ago my rheumatologist did a 80mg Depo-Medrol injection into the knee (after 50 cc liquid suction from the knee). Usually after those injections I feel immidiate relief of pain and the flare is gone, but now my knee is steel swolen and has limited movment. Is this a bad sign? Are there any cases known when injections of corticosteroids can no longer help to patient? Or can it be a wrong injection technique of the doctor? What should I do? Thank ou for your help.

Surgery and Methotrexate dosage.

I am having an upper eyelid blepharoplasty and wonder what your recommendations are for how long I should stay off methotrexate before and after the surgery? I take .6 ml of mtx weekly.

How young is too young for knee replacements?

how young can a patient be to get knee replacement. i was in a car accident with a drunk driver 14 yrs ago. i’ve had authroscopic surgury done on both knees 3 times at the same time(healing is better that way), cortisone shotes, therapy 3 times, predisone package, and now synvisc. i am now 41 and the pain is worse. they tell me that i’m too young for knee replacement because i would use them up too fast. my thoughts are “why”? why cant i get the necessary use out of them. if a 70 yr old person can get very minimal use out of them then why cant i get the most out of them. please give me some insight. thanks

Medication options for Rheumatoid Arthritis in Down Syndrome Children

my 11year old daughter has down syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis, she is on 12.5 mg of methotrexate by injection once a week, i have noticed that her hair is falling out. She has not tried anything else. Is there any other medication with less side affects that she could try? She has the arthritis in her fingers toes and her wrists.

Allopurinol and a delterious effect on the live?

What causes allopurinol to have a deleterious effect on the liver? I know it cal alter enzymes levels and affect bilirubin levels, but cannot get any further than that.
