Can statin drugs cause dermatomyositis?

Can a statin drug like crestor cause dermatomyositis? If so, will the discontinuation of the statin drug able the body to return to normal?

heredity and gout

Is it or can it be hereditary?

prevention of gout attacks

I want to know the best diet for a person suffering from cronic gout attacks. I’ve been in bed unable to walk, for almost three months.I fasted for one and a half months. Still no relief.I was given steroids and placed on alluperniol. Please help.in much pain. I don’t want to go through this again.

Gout, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Chemotherpay

I saw the question posed about gout and chemotherapy. I am a 54 year old woman who had breast cancer 5 years ago and was treated with chemotherapy(cytoxin and adriamycin)During this time I had a continued decline in the joints of my knees. My Dcotors say it is arthritis. I am now experiencing a numbness in my toes and also some enlargement. I also experienced an enlargement of a finger in my left hand (swollen and feels difficult to bend) No signs of an insect bite only warmth and no redness.I have some puffiness between the middle and forth fingers of both hands, occasional pain on the outside of my wrists and I am also experiencing aches in my lower hip and buttocks area. Could this be the start of gout or rhumatoid arthritis? What type of test could determine this, and is there any type of diet for gout that could help me ? I am a gingerale drinker and wondered if consuming too much could cause an increase in uric acid in my system?

Does types of food affect arthritis

Recently, I have been diagnosed with gout/arthritis in the big toe joint. When it flares up, I can hardly walk. Being that this is not constant pain, I am wondering if some of the food I take could bring on the bouts of swelling and pain. I also have a kidney condition, so I cannot take most of the medication available. Tylenol is about it.

arthritis & gout

How can it be determined that a pain in the foot is considered gout or arthritis? adding: that there could or could not be any inflammation. By knowing this how can it or any be prevented? 1.)For Gout, I know when I have pizza this gives a reaction. What’s your comments? Currently I am taking colchicine.
