Osteoarthritis Q & A

What Doctor

I have had knee/leg problems for the last 2-3 years. I was told I had damaged cartlidge in one knee. Recently, my other knee has started to bother me. I’m not sure what kind of doctor I need to see first. Do I need to have blood work done to see if I have arthritis (and what kind) or some other autoimmune disease? I started taking some joint therapy (tablets) a week ago and it has helped. Does a rhematologist do the blood work?

Link Between Avascular Necrosis and Osteoarthritis

Could you elaborate on how osteoarthritis can be a secondary condition to avascular necrosis? And how can avascular necrosis adversely affect a confirmed primary diagnosis of osteoarthriris?

osteoarthritis & food

Can you pleae tell me what food can cause osteoarthritis to flare up. I am aware of acidic food & recently dicovered too much sugar is a problem, what other possibilities are there?

recurring fluid buildup around knee joint

I am a 57 yr old female. I have been diagnosed with having degenerative osteoarthritis in my knees. I have recurring fluid buildup around the joint that can only be removed in the doctor’s office. The last time I endured this procedure was June 29 and now it needs to be done again. What am I doing wrong to cause this rapid fluid buildup?

Therapeutic Taping

My husband has severe pain in his knees from arthritis. We just discovered the idea of therapeutic taping today and would like to know how or where we could learn the technique? My husband had already said that, maybe, wrapping the knee in an ace bandage would help. He feels that this may help him tremendously. He performs physical labor for his livelihood. He’s on several medications, but doesn’t want to be so dependant on them. They do have their limits.

Pain in Knee

I have swelling in my knee and it is very painful sometime when I go upstairs or work for long time.
