Lupus Q & A

RA

I am 25yr old female with arthralgia since 1 yr.My RF was above 225 by elisa before one year and 96 by one week back considered to be highest by the particular methods.MY ANA was+++ by immunofluoroscence.SSA anti bodies were +++by immunoflurescence and negative by elisa.Liver function tests, blood ,urine tests are normal. No other antibodies were detcted in the EURO II method. My ESR is ranging from 100 to 15.I have malar rash and photosensitivity.I am taking prednisolone 7.5 mg and HCQS 400 mg /day since 1 yr.I do not have any other signs and symptoms of RA exept arthralgia and highest titre of RF.Highest titre of RF even after taking the medications for one year indicates the diagnosis of RA?. I do not have nodulues or effusion s orother symptoms please helpme in this aspect

Lupus and APS

I have been told that the antiphospholipid antibodies can cause the ANA test to be negative, is this true and why?

Lupus and High Blood Pressure

I have lupus/high blood pressure I’m on blood pressure medicine but my pressure is 140/90 or higher everyday. Also my lupus is flare up now I have a bad skin rash on my face how can I make it go away.

High ANA, indeterminate dsDNA, slight rash…

Thanks for having a form like this on the website! I have had a slight rash, on my forehead, for 21 months now, and we have just now tested me, finally, for lupus. I had Immunoglobulin tests, CBC, hormones, and an ANA test. All was well until the ANA, which came out speckled at 1:640. So, I just took a lupus panel, which came out 6 (reference range for dsDNA Autoantibodies = <5 – not detected, 5-10 = indeterminate, greater than 10 = detected). So, I’m ANA positive, but dsDNA is indeterminate. I feel great with no other symptoms. What should I do now, go on Plaquenil for the rash, or seek out other causes for that? Or have further tests??

Anti-dna levels over 1000

What can happen to a person with Anti-dna levels markedly elevated over 1000 IU/ML. I know the level should be under 25. Can this be dangerous?

Re: Anti-dna levels over 1000

Does anti-ds dna of 85 and ana of 1:160 mean that I have lupus? I also have anti-thyroid antibodies and have had transverse myelitis in the past year. My spinal tap is positive for oligoclonal bands. Is this MS? Is this lupus? Is this both?
