Walking, although likely not damaging to the knee, often makes the pain worse. However, for most walking is an enjoyable, easily availale exercise. If possible,try to lessen the impact by finding a flat, softer surface. Synthetic tracks (found in schools) or non-concrete trails would be good. Treadmills or elliptical trainers are also good.
