Most chronic diseases, ankylosing spondylitis (AS) included, are incurable. However, there are great treatments for AS that will profoundly reduce the symptoms and make life manageable and enjoyable again. Whether these treatments prevent the progressive fusion of the spine that can happen in some folks with AS remains to be determined. There is ongoing research to answer that question.
